After another normal day of classes we took a quick siesta and headed off to Museo de Thyssen. This in my opinion was better than the other two museums we have visited. It had some beautiful pieces by Van Gogh, Renoir, Degas, Picasso, Sargent and others. Some of their pieces are incredible, and indescribable… some of which I will own a replica of one day and have framed in my house.
On our way back home from the museum… Emily and I got stuck in the middle of a strike. Yes, a strike. I’m not entirely sure what was going on but we had heard there was a strike today. Well, we definitely witnessed it. Like Emily said “This is like running with the bulls but in the wrong direction.” That is exactly what it felt like! Swimming against the current for sure!
So dinner… SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS. Yes, absolutely crazy and very delicious.
Our madre told us last week that Swiss boys were coming to stay with us when the other 2 girls here leave… Today we were informed that there was just 1 Swiss boy coming! So to make up for it… our madre took things into her own hands and called her Australian friend who is studying here to come over for dinner tomorrow. This could get interesting.
Then we went out with our madre and our padre for Chocolate con churros…a typical Spanish dessert. We went to a different Chocoleteria a couple of weeks ago, but this one was MUCH better. It was so fun to hang out with them and Anh (one of the girls staying with us.) Anh and Minny leave in a couple of days, we will be sad when they’re gone!
Anh and I got this... 4 different types of chocoalte! Chocolate blanco de Napal y Chocolate fria (cold), Chocoalte de Espana y some other kind ;)
Now we are trying to get started on our massive amount of homework for the next two weeks. Our goal is to have it done this week so we can enjoy ourselves next week. It will be our last week in Madrid! Then we go to Andalucia for one week and it’s off to Salamanca to wrap up the last month!
Thank you SO MUCH for posting a picture of the churros. Yay!
