Where do I even begin?

If days get any more bizarre than today... I'm not sure I will be able to handle it. We've laughed so hard we've cried, we've been disgusted, confused... a mind-boggling day for sure. Remember our friend Pedro, the man who always tells Emily and I that we look pretty in the mornings? Well he was waiting on us as usual this morning. Instead of just telling us "Adios" he preceded to squeeze our faces. Typically the Spanish way of saying hello or goodbye is with besos (kisses) on the cheek. As Emily put it, he kind of realigned or jaw this morning in a very loving way.

Then, in my culture class we were becoming more culturally sound by watching a Spanish film, Volver. Yes, well it’s about a girl who kills her “dad”, then his wife puts him in a freezer, the wife’s mom, or aunt or something dies, but is still living as a younger version. I have no idea what’s going on. The movie is in Spanish, but don’t worry we have subtitles. …..

Did I mention the subtitles are also in Spanish?

Also in class today we were discussing food. We were talking about peanut butter actually and that is non-existent here so we were explaining to Rosa, my teacher. Well out of now where Megan (a classmate of mine) pulls out a random jar of creamy peanut butter! SO funny. Rosa tried it… she wasn’t a fan.

This is Rosa trying the peanut butter

So, we were on our way to Museo de Reina Sofia, which is a whole bizarre thing in itself BUT an interesting thing occurred on the metro. For one thing, I’m awkwardly leaning against this guys arm who is sitting down. I was standing. The easiest thing would have been for him to just, well, move his arm but no he kept it there awkwardly leaning against my backside. I look down he’s chuckling, loudly. He was also with his boyfriend. To make matters worse, this old man is leaning against Emily. He had a few good feet to move over but now, he kept inching closer and closer to her.

Oh, and on the way back from the museum. We had déjà vu. The same creepy man, was on our same train. Of all the people in Madrid, and all the trains in Madrid….

While we were waiting to enter the museum, a pigeon, yes, a pigeon about took our heads off. I met face to face with a castle the other day; I almost met face to face with a pigeon.

Now, let’s talk about the Reina Sofia. Picasso had some deep pieces, with great meaning… those I appreciated. A lot of modern art is good. Well, some of it that I saw I’m pretty sure my not even two year old nephew could have drawn better but no, this is framed, in a museum, with it’s own personal security guard. I don’t get it.

So we walked out onto the terrace at the museum and saw an escalator coming down from above us. We thought I was odd that we didn’t see one going up so we took the elevator up to the next floor to see the next exhibit. We got up there and realized that the 4th floor was dedicated to the top of this random escalator. That was it. No really. So, we rode it back down to the 3rd floor and went to “Dunkin coffee” and got a donut. Raspberry. Super delicious.

Oh, and Emily and I have become the same person. We are now finishing each other sentences.

Now we are home waiting for dinner. Then it’s time to study! The first term is half way over tomorrow so we have midterms!
